Asana Review
Clean, fast work management for cross-functional teams.
Pros
- Outstanding UX — near-zero training for basic use
- Flexible views: list, board, timeline, calendar
- Portfolios and goals link work to strategy nicely
- Solid automations and forms on paid tiers
Cons
- Dependencies and timeline are light: no real CPM, float or baselines
- No native time tracking; cost management is minimal
- Per-seat pricing adds up across large orgs
- Advanced reporting is comparatively thin
Our review
Asana wins on friction: people actually use it, which is more than can be said of many heavier tools. It shines for cross-functional coordination — campaigns, launches, onboarding flows — where the unit of work is a task with an owner and a date, not an activity with float and a cost account. PMs from a controls background will miss baselines and real dependency logic. Asana knows its audience and serves it very well.
Pricing
| Personal | Free, up to 10 teammates |
| Starter | Per user/month |
| Advanced | Per user/month — portfolios, goals, workload |
Pricing changes often — verify on the vendor site.
Verdict
Pick Asana when adoption matters more than scheduling depth — marketing, operations, product teams. Skip it for cost-loaded or contractually scheduled projects.
