How to Manage a Change Request
A practical, step-by-step guide to manage a change request. Change Request is the concept behind it — here is how to do it in practice.
For the full concept, see Change Request.
Steps
- Raise the request: document what is being changed, the reason, and the requester.
- Assess the impact on scope, schedule, cost, quality and risk.
- Submit to the authorised approver or change control board for a decision.
- If approved, update the affected baselines, plans and the change log; if rejected, record why.
- Communicate the decision and implement the change in a controlled way.
